Nike Brand Initative
Crafting a new streetwear icon.
Nike Canvas turns sneakers back into a platform for artistic expression. It starts with a shoe designed to be drawn, painted, and sprayed on at workshops where the public create their own pairs using the same tools. The program blends the Swoosh’s style with personal creativity, reaffirming Nike’s bond with the arts and bridging it to an artistic audience.

Canvas’ branding strips down Nikes toolkit to use as a structured, blank surface, letting it be defined by the creations of the cities and creatives it interacts with.
The Nike CANVAS, a sneaker made for this initiative, is based on a stripped down prototype of the 1972 Nike Cortez from the Nike Archives, made anew with a canvas construction.
Recycled boxes, made for the Nike CANVAS, are made not just to store the sneakers, but to be reused as a toolbox for storing tools and materials; encouraging customers to go create whether it be on their shoes or something else.
An in-store experience lets Nike customers customize their own shoe using a library of artistic tools and mediums.
The space itself is meant to transform as it’s used. Becoming covered with the excess people produce when customizing their shoe, just like in a studio.
