Nike Brand Initative
Reconstructing a Footwear Icon.
Nike Canvas brings sneaker culture back to the arts. Made to be remade: The Nike CANVAS can be drawn, painted, and sprayed on at in-store workshops where everyone get the chance to create their own pairs to wear. Workshop takeaways and unique re-usable packaging top-off an experience that launches a global endeavor for Nike, traveling to artistic epicenters like Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Paris.

The Nike CANVAS is based on a stripped down prototype of the original 1972 Nike Cortez, made anew in a canvas silhouette with a custom swoosh.
Canvas’ branding strips down Nikes toolkit to use as a blank surface, letting it be remixed by any of the cities and artists its used to represent.
Recycled boxes don’t just store the sneakers, but are inteded to be reused as a toolbox for creative supplies, encouraging people to go create with Nike.
The in-store experiencse create a space for people to customize their own shoe using a large spread of artistic tools and mediums on workbenches.
The space transforms as it’s used, becoming covered with splatters and marks, celebrating the mess you produce when creating art.
