Some Doors Shouldn’t be Opened
Building horror from the ground up.
A24’s reboot of the Pact needed to stand out amongst a dense psychological horror genre. The story centers on two siblings uncovering dark secrets in their childhood home. It’s marketing uses architecture-inspired elements, and twisted craftsman styling, applied to immersive online marketing to draw audiences into an unsettling, big-screen experience.
+ Creative Strategy + Branding
+ Copywriting + Motion
+ Advertising + Web Design
The craftsman-style family home of the Carters is abstractly reflected in the movies title, looming large over the brand and story.
The custom typeface emulates craftsman typography of the late 1920’s and uses uneven line weights, proportions, and sloped angles that results in an eerie family of characters.
Press kits bring people into the world of the story ahead of a theatrical release with interactive features using heat-activated ink that can be revealed when using lighters that comes with kits.
An A24 zine and ARG website build out the world of the movie through excerpts that talk about the history of the family, house, and town, giving the audience breadcrumbs while building intrigue.
